Berlin Wall 30 - From the Divided to the City of Freedom

The 30th Anniversary of the Fall of the Wall

Berlin; November 6th - 10th, 2019

The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 represents a historic catalyst that led to changes in the world’s political, economic and cultural landscape. In its tumultuous aftermath, Eastern Europe witnessed the emergence of dozens of new states that partly form today’s European Union. The events in Berlin brought transformations to other parts of the world, including regions as far afield as Africa and Asia, and laid the groundwork for the world we experience today.

The Berlin Wall 30 summit will be held in conjunction with the city’s celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Wall. This year’s conference titled, “A World Without Walls,” emphasizes the great changes that occurred in the wake of the fall of the Berlin Wall and symbolizes the many political, economic and cultural walls that still exist today..

The summit will feature three large-scale events focusing on the fields of international relations and economics, security and peace building, human rights, arts and culture. The conference curriculum will include a broad range of discussion topics and will highlight specific areas within the field of cultural diplomacy. Through dialogues, lectures and analyses, the summit will demonstrate the pressing need to advocate for a world without walls.
